Message from the President 【会长致辞】

Dear Society Members and All Friends:

A new fiscal year of the Chinese Society of Nova scotia will start from Nov 2019. We had a successful Annual General Meeting (AGM) not long ago and a new Executive Committee (EC) has been formed. On behalf of the EC, I would express my sincere gratitude to all of you for your continued support. Thank you for putting faith in us. Thank you for your trust and confidence to choose us as the lead team for the society.

I also would like to thank all the EC members volunteered and elected this time. In fact most of them are from the dedicated team of 2017-2018 executive committee. We are very glad to see more and more young volunteers joining the EC so that we believe we will serve our community members better. In recent years, the Chinese community is enlarging. We have more Chinese businesses, investors, university students and immigrants coming to Halifax and coming to the province. I hope that the Chinese Society of Nova Scotia becomes a big family for all the people who are willing to join and share their love, their enthusiasm and knowledge of life, to help to preserve and promote Chinese culture, to promote understanding, friendship, and well-being among all of us, and to make contributions to and actively support the Canadian policy of Multiculturalism. As before, the new Executive Committee committed to organize a series of activities to allow members to get together, to make friends, to enjoy life and to promote our Culture. These events include but are not limited to, the Bowling Night, the Christmas Party, the Chinese New Year Banquet, the Mother’s Day Celebration, the Dragon Boat Festival, and Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration etc. etc. We will continue to collaborate with other organizations, institutions and businesses to host or take part in community activities. We will do our best to promote and support the rights and benefit of our members. We will endeavor to expand our influence to the communities and Canadian society.

I believe that through our effort together, the Chinese Society of Nova Scotia will grow stronger and have more positive impact on everyone’s life. The linkage between the Chinese community and Nova Scotia will be strengthened and we will be proud of making a great contribution to the diversity of Canadian culture. The Executive Committee sincerely invite and encourage all the members and you to participate in our events, to engage in the society, and to connect with each other like a family. We are expecting and very appreciate your continuing support. Your contribution and involvement are always the greatest support and reward to our EC and the society.

Please feel free to contact our executive members and Board of directors if you have any questions, comments and suggestion.

Sincerely,

Wilber Huang

President
