Message from the President 【会长致辞】

mmexport1448674718533Dear Members and Friends:

An executive committee of the Chinese Society of Nova Scotia for 2015-2016 fiscal year has been formed after Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on October 24, 2015. It is my honor to have an opportunity to lead the Society as President for this fiscal year. As a well recognized Chinese community in Halifax region, we are proud of the Society for what it has accomplished and for its further visions we are working toward to.

The mission of our Society is to preserve and promote Chinese culture in Nova Scotia. To fulfill our mission, we have been not only actively participating in many cultural and sport activities such as Multicultural Festival and the annual Dragon Boat Events, but also have consecutively been organizing Chinese New Year’s banquet for over decade. Participants of this event include local government officials, business leaders, and people who have great interests in Chinese culture and want to get a better understanding of Chinese tradition through this event. It is great to see our dedicated involvement in the local business and culture development.

Our contribution to local business and culture development has been well recognized by government offices and business associations. Some of our members have been awarded the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in Atlantic Region. The recipients are recognized Canadians for their significant contribution to a particular province, territory, region or community within Canada, or an achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada.

The new executive committee has planned a number of events for coming fiscal year to provide platform for our members and friends to connect with each other and to engage with the Society. I sincerely invite you to actively participate in these events, to get involved and to connect with us. We are looking for meeting you at these events. Your contribution and help are always appreciated.

If you have any comments and suggestion, please feel free to conduct our executive members and Board of directors. Let us work together to build a great Society.

Genlou Sun, President

Chinese Society of Nova Scotia
