As tradition, the Chinese Society of Nova Scotia will organize 2018 Chinese New Year Banquet to celebrate Chinese New year (the year of Dog) with all Nova Scotians. The 2018 Chinese New Year Banquet will be held on the February 17, 2018, 6:00 pm – 11:30 pm, at Nova Scotia Casino, 1983 Upper Water Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia, B3J 3Y5. The banquet program features greetings by distinguished guests, dinner, cultural performance, and dancing. Highlights of the banquet for past years have been published on the Society’s website. Detailed information of this year’s banquet will be available on the website.
The purpose of this event is to express our gratitude to Nova Scotians for their friendship, to strengthen the linkage between the Chinese Society and the business communities in Nova Scotia, and to showcase Chinese arts and culture. With a goal of preserving and promoting Chinese culture in Nova Scotia, the Chinese Society of Nova Scotia was established in 1974 as a non-profit organization， and it has been striving for excellence in all dimensions since then. Chinese-Canadians now make one of the largest
ethnic groups in the province, and we are building a sense of pride for living and working in this beautiful land. Our achievements have been recognized by government offices and business associations. Four members have been awarded the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, and a number of members have been recognized for their excellent voluntary services in Nova Scotia. The membership of the fast growing society has extended into many areas and is composed of diverse professions: from restaurant attendants to construction workers, university students, professors, health professionals, engineers, bankers, IT managers, stay-at-home moms, etc. We are very proud that some of our members are successful business owners who emigrate from China.
With corporate sponsorships, the Society has been successfully organizing Chinese New Year celebrations. We have received great testimonials from government dignitaries and business leaders. For previous year’s Chinese New Year celebration, the Lieutenant Governor commented how entertaining the evening was and that he had enjoyed himself. This year’s event will continue to provide an opportunity to learn about Chinese arts and culture and assist local business leaders in learning about the business philosophy in China, as we are celebrating our Chinese-Canadian identity and achievements.
As a sponsor, you will not only be able to communicate with other businesses that are already engaged in business with our Chinese community, but also you will be recognized as a strong supporter for the Society’s wellbeing. Your participation in sponsoring the event will be very beneficial by bringing your business focus at a broad level to the Chinese Society and its supporters. We are looking for you to share this event with us, enjoy the great local hospitality and delicious food, and experience a most delightful and traditional Chinese celebration.
